So I have had this computer for a while now and everything was working perfectly until now. My audio jack is a little broken. Its not a visible issue but when I plug my headphones in sometime it doesn't recognize it as in and sometimes the audio is lower than before. It isn't my headphones because the same headphones work in my laptop perfectly. Another thing is when I have my headphones in on League of Legends the sound is perfect but on youtube and other sounds its broken and dull. Someone please help me, thanks!

Since the jack is hardware, it can not act differently with LoL vs other things. I can see youtube videos being quiet because most users now run systems with volume normalizing enabled so end up uploading rather quiet videos.

You can try with volume normalization(SVM or Loudness Equalization are common names for this type of thing). You can adjust them in the Sounds under playback -> Speakers -> Properties -> Enhancements.

Now the not always detecting can be a hardware issue for sure, but lets see if we can get the audio sounding right.

Please note, I avoid volume normalization at all costs, but many use and like it.

My bad I meant to type Sound

You get to that location from Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound
On the playback tab you select your speakers and then Properties
In the next Window you have a tab called Enhancements.
In that Enhancements list you will see an option called Loudness Equalization.

All this does is try to keep the volume levels stable from program to program(it will boost low volumes, but also bring down things that are overly loud). See how it works for you.

Ok now this thing is acting weird, when I checked the box for loudness equalization the apply button wasn't able for me to click it. But I clicked ok and exited out of both windows. All of my sounds are working fine so far except youtube still, and here's the weird part. I can hear music and noises from the youtube video, but when someone talks I cant hear their voice at all. I don't know whats happening but it might be some youtube setting or something but I need to fix it.

Ok and something else I just realized was on youtube while watching a video I moved my headphone cord around a bit and the sounds started playing just fine, but I let go and it was back to basically mute.

If you have realtek onboard audio you may be able to map one of the other ports to use your headphones with that plug instead.

If not all 3 contacts are making sometimes strange things happen.

Can I get you to check your headphone jack to see if it is a TRS or TRRS jack.

Normal headphones/speakers used with computers tend to have TRS jacks, but cell phones use TRRS(to allow the mic on the same plug). If you happen to have a TRRS jack on your headset, it may explain some of the strangeness.

I have a Microphone jack on these headphones too, which is TRS but I think that's about it. My moniter has a cord for it to play sound as well from the computer which is TRS too but I don't know if that will help. And also I do not have Realtek onboard audio.

What kind of system is this(desktop/laptop)? Model number?

Did you check the sound card type just in case it has some kind of remap to use another jack. If you think it is a hardware issue, you may have to get it replaced. For a case headphone jack it is nothing, but for a onboard jack. its quite a bit more work.

I'm thinking about going to the Microcenter I build it at, its a custom built desktop which I ordered the parts and Microcenter put them together. I will probably just buy another sound card there. And also, just looking at pcpartpicker where I put the virtual computer together, I notice now that I was using the sound card from the case. I don't think I purchased a sound card.
