How I look at it is that there are two way you can design a $2000 build: lavishly high-end components, or budget components with a reason for a $2000 price tag.
For the second option, my preference, that reason could be a 2560x1440 monitor, which would be included in the $2000. Then a very high end graphics card, and the rest of the components would fit whatever is left of the budget.
