For truly light gaming APUs make a decent choice, then you don't need a video card at all. What are you looking to play primarily?

Mostly mine craft, gmod, and some other small steam games. Oh and also what would be a good processor? I have the AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-core 3.5ghz (4.1ghz turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Desktop Processor in mind.

That is a good budget choice and a 970 motherboard will let you overclock it quite a bit. Coupled with an R7-270X (HD7870) and you have a decent mid-range machine. If that is too much, then the 260X (HD7770) is still a pretty good budget card.
