Hello, I am thinking of getting a new processor. My mobo is a MSI 2AE0 with an FM2 Socket. the only issue i am having is with the PSU, i need to know if i will need a new one, my current PSU is a Corsair CX430M 430W. I plan to upgrade from my AMD A10-5700 to an AMD A10-6800K (The best i can get for a mobo with an FM2 Socket). The difference in power consumption between the two processors is 35W (5700 consumes 65W, while the 6800K consumes 100W) and i don't know how to calculate all of my computer components power usages to determine as to whether or not I need a new PSU, Plz help :)

Here's my current build -

Current Processor - AMD A10-5700 APU

Mobo - MSI 2AE0

GPU - EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti w/ACX Cooling FTW edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

8GB of RAM (no link :( )

2 TB HDD (Almost certain its a Seagate HDD)

Beats Audio (ewwwww ikr) (no link, i don't think it matters that much anyways)

Power Supply - Corsair 430W

The Processor I want to change to is an A10-6800k here's a link -

You might be okay with the 430W as I have a friend that uses the same PSU and she has an i5, 7870, 8GB RAM, etc. and it runs it all no problem. If you're thinking of overclocking though or you're too worried about it then go for a 500-550W PSU.

Thanks! What brand would you recommend for this?

To be honest you should be able to run your system with a 430W PSU, however if you upgrade in the future you may also need to upgrade your PSU too. Personally if you're willing to stretch your budget out a little, I'd go with a higher watt PSU. I've noticed you've selected a semi-modular PSU, hence if you want semi-modular I'd go with:

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£49.93 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £49.93
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Or if you're not willing to stretch your budget that far, perhaps:

Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£45.36 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £45.36
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I'd still go with my first suggestion and take the 600W PSU for £10 more. Unfortunately computer components are much more expensive within the UK compared to the US.

Anyhow all the best. :)

I've always used Corsair in my builds. Seasonic, XFX and EVGA are also good :)
