Monitor or Headset?

Recently, I bought a gaming PC, which will be coming in soon. I have a 1366x768 monitor, VGA, that I can use with it. I also have a headset, of which one earphone doesn't work. I've been thinking about whether to buy a new 1920x1080 monitor, or a new headset first (that has a mic). What would you do?

Yeah, playing games with only one side working is getting pretty annoying xD Are there any you could recommend? My budget is around $100-$120. My main issue is most seem to have a lacking microphone.
