Hello!
I have recently built a computer with an AMD 8350 8-Core processor. I am trying to run an older FS that pays more attention to clock speed than RAM (FSX if you are wondering). My 8-Core runs at a default of 4.4 GHz. I have overclocked it at 20% (5.2.something) and, running FS with payware, the processor runs at about 48°C to 51°C. I would like to Overclock the processor some more, but I am afraid of ruining the motherboard/processor. As I play FSX, I am constantly checking the temp, which is annoying me. The processor is getting 1.375 Volts. What is a safe O/C rate for this processor without ruining my system or it unexpectedly shutting off? Thanks in advance!

Just watch your temperatures, and do a full load test, like Prime95.

Real world usage won't pull all 8 cores to 100%, but Prime95 will. If you get anything over 65C, stop and reduce the voltages.

You would be lucky to get 4.6 on air.

Even though you are at 5.2 GHz, I doubt it's actually stable. If you run a benchmark, you may not be getting any noticeable difference.

I have that processor. I'm using liquid cooling and my chip is OC'd to 4.8, and it still hits 65C in Prime95. If you are using an air cooler, I'd be surprised if it ran Prime95 without exceeding 65 at that speed.

So are you saying that my OC is too high? I am getting 45C at idle and for web browsing and such. 51° for FAX and I am giving it 1.35V.

I'm not saying anything.

I'm saying, run Prime95 and see what result you get. The results will speak for themselves.

Just make sure you stop it if it your CPU hits 65, assuming it doesn't fail in the first 30 seconds.

hahaha 5.2 is way way to high for that 1.375 will get you a stable over clock of about 4.3-4.4 bring it down and bring the vcore up alot like 1.425 at the least if your trying to get 4.6 and you will understand why they said that you will be lucky to get 4.6 on air.
