So I've just purchased a couple of secondhand laptops with no OS (Dell Vostro 3300, i3). I've put a clean install of Windows 7 on them. The specs on buying them said they have "BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n" and "RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller".
They have a wireless switch at the front of the laptop. I have switched this on, but the wifi icon on the laptop is not lit up.
When I go to connect wirelessly, it does not find any wireless signal and asks me to use a ethernet connection.
I think I know what's going on, but I just want to double check before I go and spend any money - the machines have wireless capability, but not a wireless network card, right?
