would like a recommendation on a graphics card

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card in my pc. I prefer to get an nvidia card as I have a nvidia shield. I currently have this card the gtx 560 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661

I am looking to spend around 150-200 dollars on a new card I have been looking at some of the evga 750 ti cards although I am open to suggestions for that price range. I am wondering if some of those cards would need a power supply upgrade I currently have a 500 watt supply.

750ti cards will work on 500w and leave a bigger headroom for sli mode.... i suggest amd for higher performance and value .....but 750ti are pretty good too while producing less heat and lower tdp...

There is r7 265 and 750TI those a really great but i can say the 750TI is a great choice

Just about no card in that price range needs more power than your psu can supply so your fine there.
Since your needs are nvidia get a 750 ti sc acx from evga easily in your budget low tdp and rock solid performance.
the acx cooler will work great on it since it has a low tdp (also low heat) and so the over clocking head room is nice on the card and this card supports nvidia experience to sweaten the deal a little.

Also the 750ti is the fastes GPU without a power input, meaning you dont need to use cables and stuff, so i would say the 750 ti is great choice for you price range

750ti is an excellent card, I recommend buying it from a 3rd party vendor so that it has additional cooling such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487028 I've never been one to trust NVidias stock cooling. I don't know if your PSU is enough, but then again I don't do PSUs.

Yea but nvidia cards have better tdp and better coolers.
Meaning more overclock headroom and they can be made to well outperform Amd cards.

I'd recommend looking at the GTX 660's. Many of them can be found for a similar price as a 750 Ti, but are a bit faster. The only reason you'd want the 750 Ti is if you can't power something better, but if you were able to power the GTX 560 then you have no such need.

Note that the 660 Ti is still kicking around on some sites, but for the prices I've seen it would be smarter to just wait for a good sale/rebate on a GTX 760.
