Not sure where this question should have been put because I didn't see a Windows Server forum so I put it here.

I really hope someone here can help me, because otherwise I am screwed.

I am in a very unusual situation....several local small organizations used the same "freelance" IT guy because they were too small to have their own IT guy. Long story short, he was caught stealing from at least one of his clients and was sent to jail.

He had a small domain setup for the local free clinic with a server running Server 2011 Small Business and about 10 workstations. Nobody had a password for the server so they hired me to come in and I setup the 10 workstations in a workgroup instead. The server is the server for their medical records software but now serves no other purpose.

This worked fine for a few months but now the problem is that the workstations say they cannot run the medical records software until an update for it is installed on the server. As I said, nobody knows the password to log in. I used Hiren's Boot CD and it said it successfully enabled the local administrator account and cleared the password but when I tried to log in it says that the account is disabled and to contact the system administrator.

Reimaging isn't an option because that server is the sole location of years of medical records.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, no one here can help you with bypassing security for any reason. We simply have no way of knowing if your story is true.

Mount the file system on another PC and hope that it's not encrypted.

We can't help you bypass the password.
