Hello

I am having an issue where my internet connection drops out periodically, once every 3-5hrs.

It will only come back if i power cycle the cable modem. Strangely, power cycling the modem sometimes affects my htcp. Twice now i have had to reset the htcp in order to get tv back after cycling the modem.

The htcp and modem are on dedicated coax lines back to an active return amp/splitter.

I checked the db level upstream, downstream, as well as the signal to noise ratio and they are all within acceptable ranges.

I had a tech from the cable company out today, and he suggested it was my cable amp that was causing the issue, so he bypassed it for the modem.

I was using a remote desktop application tonight, had closed it, and then wam! No internet. I power cycled the modem, then wam! No tv. I power cycled the htcp and now i have both again.

Any ideas?

My service provider is cox

Also, would a router that is overloaded cause me to have to powercycle the modem only?

Ive got 9 ip cameras, 5 computers, a ubiquity unify ap, and probably like 7-8 wifi devices connected to the router.

However, the cameras all still work locally when the internet is down...
