I'm an idiot. Now that we have that out of the way, I need a little help.
I recently switched to a Mac and plugged in my WD Passort drive and saw that I needed to format the drive for Mac compatibility. The drive is 500GB, so I created a new 40GB partition and formatted it for Mac. A few days later, I plugged it into my PC to retrieve some files and found out that it no longer works with my PC, including the original partition. I was completely naive and didn't think it through when I made the new 40GB partition.
Is there any way to recover the data from the missing 460GB PC partition? There are a bunch of old family photos on there that I don't want to loose.
Can anyone suggest what my next steps might be, or recovery software that migh work for me? I'd really appreciate it.
