Windows 7 installation stuck

Solution
Possible causes:
a) Bad optical drive,
b) Bad DVD disk
c) Not fully formatted hard drive
d) Bad hard drive.

Possible solutions:
1. Try Low Level formatting the Hard Drive
2. Try scanning the HD with Hard Disk Sentinel to determine it's condition.
3. Diagnose the optical drive installing another Windows, from a different burned Win 7 DVD, or from a different ISO. Try the installation Windows up to the point that 100% of the files are extracted. If 100% is reached, it was the disk.. if still the issue persists, it's possibly the Optical drive, or a possible Hard Disk issue.
4. Try installing from a USB pendrive.

HDD Low Level Format Tool 4.40...
could be a bad spot on the cd. bad spot on your hard drive. using an amd chipset mb you forgot to do an f6 custom install and install the chipset drivers. the drive was not blank had windows on it. need to remove the system partion and make sure the mbr is empty. sata chipset not set to right mode or the hard drive/ssd drive not on the intel/amd sata port 0 port. yu may have it plugged into 3 party sata port.

Clearing it up for you:
• Bad DVD/burn error.
• Bad HD, deffective sectors,
• if AMD motherboard you need to add the chipset drivers with F6,
• The HD may not be empty and still have a previous Windows on it...
• You need to remove the system C partition and reformat the drive which would renew the MBR..
• SATA controller not properly set in the BIOS to AHCI
• Hard Disk may be connected to a SATA port other than 0 (or the Num 1 SATA port)

He just gave you a list of about eight different potential causes of the problem. I would bet it's the first one. Clean your Windows disk real well and inspect it for scratches. If the problem persists then burn another disk (you can download Windows 7 ISO images from Digital River's website).

To ensure it's not a problem with your hard drive, if the problem persists even after cleaning the Windows disc and then burning another one, during the Windows install, delete all partitions on the hard drive, create a partition spanning the entire hard drive, then format the entire hard drive (NOT a quick format but a real format). A non-quick format will take hours, but it will tell you if there's problems writing to the hard drive.
