so 2gb of system ram + 2gb of vram?

what are the rest of your specs? (motherbaord, cpu, gpu, os)

With 2GB (system) RAM, games probably make the HDD grind like nobody's business reading/writing the swapfile.

Remotely serious gaming these days requires at least 4GB system RAM, preferably 8GB.

Having tons of GPU RAM does you no good if your OS and the game do not fit in the system RAM.

Need more DRAM, 2GB is low even for XP

I run 2GB of ram with Windows 7 64bit and it's fine until you game or do intensive multitasking :p

2GB or 2x4GB as your sig shows ;)  Regardless the OS itself will use a healthy part of the DRAM with only 2 GB total.

it's another build, not my sig one, built it for my parents :p
I paired it with a SSD so it actually feels snappier than their 4GB rig

I would never use 2GB myself XD wanting to upgrade to 16GB from my 8GB

Excessive swapfile usage due to extremely low RAM could wear that SSD down very quickly... particularly if you start running memory-intensive stuff like games.

I moved the swapfile to a 7200.9 160GB IDE Seagate XD

but I agree that having 2GB is nowhere near enough for gaming purposes
bare minimum is 4GB, 8GB is optimal

With todays rigs 8GB is the accepted minimum, even most prebuilts these days all come with 6-8 GB and many are starting to see 16GB
