Hi,

I have an Asrock P45TS motherboard (http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P45ts/), running Windows 7 Pro 64Bit with an Intel Q9550 CPU (http://ark.intel.com/products/33924/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q9550-12M-Cache-2_83-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB). My old RAM is a 2GB Kingmax and a 4GB Crucial, both DDR3 1333Mhz.

I bought new 8GB RAM, a set of 2x4GB. I have tried three different sets Corsair and Kingston, neither of them want to work on my PC. When I install the RAM and switch the PC on I get three beeps, then a pause, then three beeps again, this happens a couple of times and then it switches off.

The latest set of RAM I have bought is Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3? CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 (http://www.corsair.com/en/cmx8gx3m2a1333c9?). According to pc-specs.com (http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/ASRock/ASRock_P45TS-R/1814/Compatible_RAM?)? this RAM should be compatible with my motherboard.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or what I can do to get this RAM working in my machine?

Solution
The issue was that I bought single sided RAM, I swapped it with a friends double sided RAM and now it is working. The RAM I swapped it for is 1866Mhz by the way, it is now down-clocked to 1333Mhz.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

@Ksham, thanks for responding. I tried various combinations with both in different slots and a single module in either slots, it makes no difference.

@i7Baby, thanks for responding. Nope, I removed my old RAM, which is DDR3 and installed the new RAM in the DDR3 slots alone.

I also tried installing one of the old modules with one of the new modules and then somtimes the PC goes on, but only recognises the old RAM in the BIOS.

What do you mean by "either slot"? Do you only have two slots available? What happened to the other slots?

Yes, the board has two slots for DDR3 and four slots four DDR2.

Nope, I only had to set everything on auto including memory remapping. I did play around with the timing with the old RAM, save the settings and insert the new RAM. But that didn't change anything.

I've tried all the different BIOS defaults, think there are 3... I tried auto settings and manual settings. Still makes no difference.
I have read on a post somewhere that this motherboard does not support RAM modules that only has chips on the one side. Not sure how true this is and I can't really check the RAM with the heat sinks installed.
