GPU giving problems since Decemnber/January

Hey guys,

so I have this problem... My GPU is a MSI 660Ti PE but I have been having the worst problems and I am starting to think it's not just the Drivers but the card also. My GPU will sometimes cause my entire pc to restart ect. That was until I started manually adjusting the fan speed to 100% before gaming... If I don't do this some of my games will have terrible lag in the main menu. Not even in the game yet...

OS - Win 8.1 (I regret upgrading from 8 to 8.1 but I had to as this problem was way worse b4 I did that)
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
32GB RAM (I know it's overkill but I do allot of things at once ... or at least I use to, wish I could again)

Another thing my pc does and I am not sure if it is related or not is my pc will stop responding (the game) this doesn't happen everyday but let's say every 2-3 days. I then press Win-key it takes me to windows 8.1 dashboard but I can't use my mouse there, so I alt tab and see all the windows but the moment I pick another window (other than the black screen from the non responsive game) it stays on that screen. I then alt, ctrl, del, try and use task manager ...same thing. Alt F4 also doesn't close it. I am then forced to hard reset... Worst part is I can see my pc working in the background.... I can see my steam chat working, my task manager (I can only see while I alt tab, otherwise it stays on the black screen) so I only see for like a split second.

TO get back to my main issue it use to say something about kernel drivers failing b4 I started to up the fan speed to 100%...

What do you guys recommend? I am planning on getting a new gpu next year but that is a long time away, with all these Nvidia errors not sure I want a 800 series tbh, you guys have no idea what grief this issue has caused. Countless hours of problems, there were days when I had no pc when I needed one.

Thanks for reading I look forward to your feedback guys

Solution
If it was working first and now causing problems, it might be over heating and being pulled down due to safety measures. Possible causes are :
1: Dust accumulation , believe it can cause components to chock and fans efficiency decreases drastically , open your case clean it with air blower etc.
2: update your drivers , get on to latest drivers or remove older drivers and reinstall them .
3: finally to pin phone your problem , Grab your card and add it in a friends system , ask him to test it,
If GPU problems continue , or get confirmed try a warranty claim or go to hardware shop for repair , Hope it helps .
