Hi,

Just yesterday i managed to spot that the centre fan (140mm) in-inbetween the two large heat sinks wasn't working, on first boot it spins appears to hit something then stop, it repeats doing this until you put the desktop to sleep. After waking from sleep it does't work at all. I have taken out the fan, and made sure that nothing was obstructing it an tried it again, no luck. I also tried cleaning it, again nothing.

Through this, I have decided to change the fans altogether and get three and attach them to my fan controller with a 25W output per channel (Aerocool touch 2100). I was thinking of either these two options;

3 x Noctua NF-A14-FLX 140mm fans

or

3 x Noctua NF-A15-PWM 140mm(120mm Mounts) NF-A15 PWM fans

I have asked Noctua for the appropriate clips but still waiting response, what do you think?

Thanks for any responses.

Solution
Hi and welcome to the forums!

I have the same cooler and always prefer the Noctua Fans over others. You need to make sure you get the right clips for the fans, 6 x 140mm clips will do for both but for the first option you can get 6 x120mm mounts as well as 140mm. Both of the fans are great, though I prefer the first option.

Less ideal in terms of cooling, but that configuration can clash with motherboard heatsinks or the first PCIe slot with all three fans.

ya, i have the cooler upright and also have socket LGA 2011, so ram spacing is not much of an issue as I have two slots on either side of the cooler.

ksham, I know three doesn't do much better, I just want it to look nicer. What fans do you are better?

I do not need the first slot, i have three other PCI-E X16's below it (I have my GTX 780 in the second slot). Also, I have the headroom for a fan above.

I have mine mounted upright, and the way my rig is set out it is considered more ideal. depends on the setup.
