Ok so basically I got a GPU (GTX770 oc gigabyte) and plugged it in to a system that I thought could handle the power requirements (750 watt) but It was a cheap one and I didnt know the rail system could not handle the draw. 30 seconds of BF4= POP FIZ BANG!!!!! Spark on the GPU power input and a dead psu as a result! (I know im an idiot and i dont want this to be a chat about getting good psu, I have learnt that)

Basically I have got the card to work in my system BUT only on old drivers, if I install new ones all I get is blue/black/signal is out of range screen. (new GOLD corsair PSU)

With it "working" It randomly lets me boot 50/50 I get a BS then next boot or 5 times in a row it works. But the thing is when it works its works!!!!!!!!!!!? It is like when its happy it will work but when it get angry NO DICE?!

I have done a bit of digging an have come to the conclusion that I have blown a capasitor! Is this the case??

Also this was a second hand card "factory Refurbished" off ebay so I dont think I have a chance for RMA or what not, especially as I may have blow it!

I would like input on stuff I may have missed but moslty I want advice on how to repair it becauce like I said when it works It works so this tells me its a small non crittical component that is broken(like a cap)

Let me know peace and remeber I know the mistake I want solutions!!

You defiantly have damaged your graphics card, how much depends on how badly damaged it is. If sparks came from the power input, that is not good and I would certainly not advise using the card. I would take off the card cooler and take a look at any sort of internal damage.

This card is likely damaged, although it could be that the motherboard also is. No other way of knowing for sure than to try out this card in another system and see how it behaves. If it behaves well in another computer, your mobo is likely damaged. If it behaves the same, the card is damaged 100%, and you need to replace it (in this case, you still can't be sure that it's the ONLY component that got burned - so keep an eye on your hardware).

Im soo heart broken because im poor and have been building this payday to payday! I guess I screwed up by going for the card and mobo ect and neglecting PSU! But in this case Im sure it can be fixed with some DIY as like I say it works when it wants to! ps I can fault find most components but not MOBO! Iv done ram, CPU, HD they seem good!!? Will put my old GPU in soon if that dont work its the mobo!!!BUt im sure its the GPU and I know a DIY could do it just how I dont know????

Im an engineer, I know that I can soder a componet i or sumin, Thats what I hope is the prob I just want to see if people think that. Like i say the core works so im hopeing its a simple cap or suming. If its ram on the card im fed but I have hope

You have learned the hard way what many people here on forum did as well. Welcome to the club, and consider this to be a new knowledge and experience. Never, ever cheap out on the PSU. Get a cheap case if you like, get a cheap RAM or cheap CPU / graphics if you must, but never the PSU.

I would not recommend any DIY here. This can only make things worse. Try what I suggested and you might just be lucky enough - maybe only the card is fried.

Most people would consider a solder to do the job, but in a graphics card there are so many factors to an issue the outcome is you'll most likely never find it, and if you did I doubt it would work 'normally'.

nahu guys are corect I was just hopeing that It would be an obvious capasitor or suming!!! U are right I need to move on and cut loses

Thanks for the input xx

yes, but they don't tend to really 'fix' it. These days they just diagnose the issue and replace whole parts of the card, not small segments. Also, they'll charge you a fortune for doing so.
