I purchased a Dell precision T5500 with 4 GB of Ram. Build 2009. 6 memory slots. Bought 8GB (2 x4) . I put them in the first 2 white slots and they worked. I can't, however, put the 4 GB back in. The old were 2GB (1) and 1GB (2). They were in the three white slots. The 1 GB's were same make. Memory is DDR3 PC3-10600 ECC REG DIMM. The 2 4's work, the others don't. Why is this? What should I do? Thank You

I was having a hard time figuring out why the original mixed Ram worked but didn't after I put the 4GB sticks in. Should 2 more 4 GB sticks work if matched with the other 2? Thank You, Lori

That system is a dual-CPU correct? It probably has two banks of RAM, one for each CPU. Do you have both CPUs in the system? Even if yes, it may need a matched RAM configuration for both sockets. And if only one CPU, only the one bank of RAM slots will work.
