Weird boot problem, clicking noise

Hello,

I'm having trouble turning on my computer. As of this morning, it fails to boot and makes this clicking noise. I've tried several times with no success. This is most easily explained in my youtube video below:

Any help would be much appreciated. My guess is a PSU or Mobo issue, but it's hard to be sure. The computer WANTS to turn on, as evidenced by the xbox controller and the fans almost turning on, but just cannot.

Over the past couple of weeks I had been getting this clicking noise but only on shut down. They'd stop when I turned off the power completely.

Also when booting, the computer would always load up, making noise, but then fail. It'd always work the second time though. This is an issue I should have dealt with earlier but I've had such a hectic month that I haven't had time for it, but now it's perhaps too late and it doesn't work full stop.

Unfortunately I do not have another PSU. I don't really want to buy another component unless I'm confident that's the faulty one.

well then borrow it from a friend/family you dont need a high power psu for checking if u have gpu then remove it and test with any low power psu or take your system to a computer repair store but they might charge u for testing...

Only recently moved here so I do not have any family or lots of friends. The friends I do have use laptops or consoles for gaming. I'll have a look around.

Can anyone explain this by the PSU not being faulty but simply not plugged in properly? I did assemble this computer myself. It was fine back home (in Aus) but when I moved to Switzerland and re-assembled it I've had these problems.

I was suggested by a friend to remove some components and test. I removed the blu ray drive and voilà, it loads. It seems that the PSU is struggling to cope with all the components. I've now put the blu ray back in but removed one of the 3 HDDs and it works still.

It's a 650 W PSU supplying power for:

3 HDs (1 SSD, 2 old school)
i7 CPU
1 blu ray drive
3 x 2 gb memory
4 gb graphics card
4 fans in total (2 cpu, 2 case)

Is that too much of a strain?

This is telling me I need about 500 W. Perhaps my 650 W PSU is just dodgy.

Any possibility that it's the mobo that's faulty?

well like that u have u check all the components one by one it may be a mobos fault but no one can tell it for sure before testing it that's why i have told u to test it with a different psu its a less hassle that changing the motherboard.....but up to my knowledge its a faulty psu problem most probably bad capacitors..
