Is this good for a budget notebook/laptop?

Looking to buy an all around laptop but not break the bank. Have a few questions about this one here: http://bit.ly/VEyr1p
Will this fit the needs of school work, light pic and photo editing(Mostly older programs.) And some light gaming? (Mostly older games or games like AirMech and Starbound.)
Does this seem like a good value, the most concerning part to me is the 1.9 ghz speed, but I suppose that depends on how much work is done in a cycle.

Samsung has a great cloning tool that comes with their SSDs ... for free. Yah can't beat free. It appears Acer also has a second drive space onboard for that model -- that's sweet. After cloning you should be able to switch the boot sequence in the BIOS to the SSD.

For around $400, you can't get much better than that. It's also highly likely the CPU can be upgraded in the future to a Richland APU with higher Turbo and better graphics.

If you are gonna do any gaming on that you might want an SSD for an extra speed boost. They are about $100. So the total price would come to about $400. Thats still a good buy. and the SSD is going to make it waaaaay faster. But if you don't want to then it will still perform well. (just not super well)

Thanks, is replacing and putting in a SSD fairly easy?

Adding an SSD will not help game performance at all.

yes it is. take out the old HDD and put in the SSD. reinstall OS or copy it. all done. It will make everything faster. better gaming because of the faster load times. how every in game play is really determined by the graphics card. those usually arent really good in a laptop. but if they are older games like you say then you will be fine

yes. it will help with faster load times. but the main performance boost for gaming comes from a good graphics card

Do NOT expect ANY game performance improvement. It will not improve you graphics settings or your FPS. It will ONLY aid in load times.

thats what i said. load times. in game performance comes from a good GPU. but he is playing older games so it really shouldnt matter. The ssd will help that little AMD CPU boot up faster. and with most of the other stuff he plans on doing. so its really up to him if he want to spend a little extra for the speed boost or not.

Meaning I can have both hard drives in at the same time, and use a SDD for gaming if wanted? Meaning less hassle if I decide to buy a SSD.
Also, I can safely conclude that the OS is 64bit because the system as 8GB of RAM, correct?
And thanks for all the help.
