installing Windows 7 from my HDD to my SDD. Do I need to re install Drivers and will the HDD be recognized?

Hi,
I just recently got a SSD and I already have the OS on the HDD. I want to move my OS to the SSD but I can't clone the HDD since it's too big for the SSD. So now I have to re install windows from my disk onto the SSD.

Are these steps correct?
1.Unplug HDD from the MOBO
2.Leave the SSD and DVD Drive connected
3.Install Windows
4.After Installation plug back in HDD.

Now the question I have is will I have to re install drivers to the SSD and will the HDD be recognized right away?

Since this is a clean install you will need to reinstall all drivers and programs. If you have an external drive or some place you can store old files you can remove content from your HDD until it is the same size or smaller than your SSD and clone it. I recommend easeus todo backup (google it) for cloning an SSD from a larger drive.

For what it's worth I would also employ the use of the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard. At the very least this will transfer your music collection, a large portion of your profile and anything else which you specify, but it cannot transfer programs.

For a new SSD, I (almost) always recommend a fresh install rather than a migration. Much less chance of fail.
In the case of an existing 1TB of stuff.....always.

So the programs settings and games I have for multiple applications are in my HDD. Will I be able to keep those settings after i re install them on the hard drive? Will I have to re download my games from steam?

Games within the Steam and Origin world can (usually) be moved from drive to drive, or just tell the new Steam client where the games are.
Programs will need to be reinstalled with the new OS. They can be installed on any drive, but you do that as you install each application.
