Just wanted to ask for some advice and guidance on upgrading my system to crossfire.

CPU: i7-2600k
Motherboard: Asus P8P67-LE
GPU: Radeon HD 6970 2GB
Power: 550W

Will this system support crossfire with another 6970 (I believe using the same gpu is better?) ?
I believe the motherboard supports it so am mainly concerned with the power supply.

Is crossfire a good value upgrade or should I be looking at a better single gpu?

Uses: Gaming, development (code, modelling, image software etc)

Hi - I believe you should consider the best single GPU you can afford route as opposed to CF.

Hi - I believe you should consider the best single GPU you can afford route as opposed to CF.
The 6970 is prob at least 3yrs old and is soon to be 3 gen old. CF for 2 of them is going to require
a new PSU (800w recommended), a good quality 750 as a min, but 850 for headroom & OC.

CF will also produce a lot more heat and might require more or upgraded cooling along with the cost
of a new PSU. You might spend a few more $$ now going the new single GPU route, but you'll be
far better off. And, there's still a GPU upgrade path available should the need arise.
