Will my i7-2600 (3.40GHz 1333MHz 8MB) fit into a LGA1155 slot?

I am currently looking to replace my MOBO thanks to its incompatibilities with most non-nVidia videocards. I have looked up my i7 CPU and most sites indicate that it works with a LGA1155 slot. However, CNET lists my model (http://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-ideacentre-k330-77273fu-black-intel-core-i7-2600-3-40ghz-1333mhz-8mb/specs/) as having an LGA1156 slot, which leads me to believe that the CPU would fit only a LGA1156 slot. This wouldn't be a problem except mobo selection is much more varied for 1155 slots.

I assume my CPU will only be compatible with one or the other, but please correct me if this assumption is wrong. Is there a way I can directly tell from looking at my CPU whether I have an LGA1155 or 1156 slot?

yeah it sounds like they hardware locked the bios to specific hardware configs...
your best bet would be to replace it with another 1155 motherboard you can pick 1 up from asrock or intel for as little as 40. but typically your looking at 80=100 for a top tier brand overclocking board.

the cpu is socket 1155 not 1156 so it looks like lenovo made a typo

The motherboard is a lenovo stock motherboard that came with the tower. There is no manufacturer sticker on it so I can't provide specific information. Belarc advisor gives me these details:

Board: LENOVO
Serial Number: ES07473792
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: LENOVO DKKT15AUS 12/13/2010

In regards to the incompatibility issue, I recently purchased a new Radeon HD 7850. The computer would not POST with it installed. Multiple other people reported the same problem and it seems to come from incompatibilities with the motherboard. (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2042384/posting-install-gpu.html) I am looking to replace the motherboard in order to avoid this issue down the line. (Lenovo recommends only using NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460, NVIDIA GeForce GT 440, ATI™ Radeon™ HD 5750 with the system)

Okay, thank you for the response. I am still curious if there is a way to differentiate between 1155 and 1156 hardware just so I can make a confirmation before ordering something.
