What's the best Hard drive?

Hello, I am picking out parts for my new rig and i just wanted to know what is the fastest and/or most reliable hard drive. I will be using it for games and other non important things while the OS will be on a Samsung 840 128 Gb SSd.

Thank you :)

  1. All 7200 RPM drives are all just as fast. Reliability, I would go with Western Digital and Seagate. If you want speed in them, set them up in RAID 0.
  2. prob the western digital black for top notch speed

Here is a very reliable HDD for a decent price. I personally love the Western Digital Black Series. I have owned quite a few and have never had any issues. Just remember that if you have sensitive information that you don't want to lose, you should have the info on multiple drives, because drives do fail.
  4. Will the Seagate Barracuda be reliable? Or should i get something else?

    WD Caviar Black

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($148.98 @ OutletPC)
    Total: $148.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

  6. id get the caviar black for better warranty and quality
  7. It doesn't matter. The difference is MINOR for data storage. It would only be noticeable for a boot drive and since @HoboPoro is using a SSD for the boot drive, speed is irrelevant. I wouldn't waste an extra premium for Black.
  8. i like the black because of 5 year warranty :)
  9. Hi

For reliability have a cooling blow cool air over hard drives
Have a matched pair of hard drives in mirror (raid 1)

Leave a gap between drives eg if mounting space for 3 drives leave space between them
Choose any with min 3 years manufactures warrantee
