Hello everyone!
In the past I've built PC's for others, and I've decided that I will built my first PC for myself.
Right now, I do most of my gaming on my Laptop, which is two years old. It has an i7 3610qm (Quad core with Hyper Threading @ 2.3 Ghz) and a GT 650M 1 GB. I've been playing demanding games (for my laptop) at low settings (Guild Wars 2, Witcher 2, Modded Civilization V).
So I thought it's time to build myself a gaming PC.
Yet I happen to be undecisive when it comes to certain things, the GPU being part of it. The 770 from Gigabyte 4GB Windforce seems like a good deal, considering that I will have dual monitors (LG IPS LED 1920 x 1080 24" and and HP 19" 1440 x 900 LCD). I will probably buy another IPS monitor from LG, but my HP monitor is alright for now. Pretty much I will play games on my LG monitor and have netflix or amazon instant video playing on the HP one.... therefore I think the 4GB version is better.
I have a budget of about $1300-1400 and from Amazon and newegg I have come with this so far:
- Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 ($90 Amazon)
- Motherboard: MSI ATX Z97 Gaming 5 ($157 Amazon)
- CPU: Intel core i7 4790k ($340 Amazon)
- GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB Windforce ($400 Amazon)
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600 Mhz 1x8 ($84 Amazon)
- PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt ($83 Amazon)
- HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB ($53 Amazon)
- OS: Windows 7 Home premium System Builder ($97 Amazon)
- Keyboard + Mouse: Aula Killing the Soul Redhead Gaming ($42 Amazon).
Total: $1347 from Amazon, but I know some parts can be found cheaper in newegg, but right now they're about the same price.
So should I go ahead and get this as it is, make changes (buy cheaper case, ram, motherboard) to get a better GPU (GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 280x)? or...
wait for the next generation of Nvidia cards, the 800 series? and stick to my ageing laptop playing at the lowest settings?
I have a budget max of $1400
(I'm also trying to save for a liquid cooling system for overclocking, but that's another different topic)
Sorry for having multiple questions in the thread, but I just want to have an opinion on this build, specifically the GPU situation.
thanks!!
