Hi all, so today when I turned on my pc I first found my desktop with all of icons jumbled up and not in the place they are meant to be in, it then also came to my attention that my 2nd monitor which is HDMI input into my 750ti is now not even being acknowledged by my pc. At first I thought the graphics card had broke for whatever reason but when I went to run a game it ran just fine so I'm really at a loss right now. If anybody has any suggestions I would be happy to hear :)

First thing to do is reinstall your GPU drivers and make sure they're up to date.

Quick guess off the top of my head is that your PC may have booted into safemode recently?

Also, if the card has crept out of its PCIe slot slightly maybe there was a stutter in performance causing the desktop resolution to briefly reduce (thus jumbling your icons) and dual screen support to auto-disable.

Cards occasionally suffer from slot creep since when they heat up and cool down they expand and contract slightly, causing them to wiggle out of their PCIe slot over time. This phenomenon is known as 'The Creep'.

Best guess is try a driver reinstall first, then physically inspect and reseat the card.

GeForce Expirience is playing up a bit right now so I cant actually get on it currently, however I did take out the GPU then re insert it with little result. One thing which did happen though is when I turned the pc back on it was letting me use 2 screens and everything was placed back where it was meant to be. I restarted it to see if it was a fluke and unfortunately it was. I don't suppose you have anything to add there?

You don't need to use GeForce Experience to reinstall your GPU's drivers. Also 'GeForce Experience is playing up a bit right now' could be further indication of driver corruption.

If you go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager... then click on 'Display Adapters' and then Right-Click your GPU's name and select 'Properties' You should see an option marked 'Update Driver'. Click that. If Windows then proceeds to download and install a new driver for your GPU followed by rebooting then hopefully the problem is solved.

If Windows doesn't auto-download a new driver, or if your version of Windows doesn't have the 'Update Driver' option listed there, then I'd suggest going to www.nvidia.com and manually downloading the latest driver for your GPU from there. Then, repeat the steps I listed above but instead of clicking 'Update Driver' click 'Uninstall Driver'. Let the uninstall process complete then reboot your computer (You will be booting a driverless GPU so be aware your desktop resolution may change temporarily) and proceed to extract and install the new driver you downloaded from www.nvidia.com.

Hopefully that will solve the problem.

It said my drivers were up to date so I uninstalled and re installed the ones from nvidia site. However nothing has changed, I still cannot get on geforce experience and it is still only one monitor running. What I'm mostly curious about is why it did it once and reverted back to the way it was supposed to be then after a restart it continued to mess up.
