Split home network into multiple rooms

In my home i have multiple Ethernet ports are available in first floor and second floor. My internet provider setup a modem and enable one port in a living area. he suggest i can enable other room ports using a Ethernet splitter. can anyone tell me how to do this?

I have wall LAN Switches for multiple rooms.one switch in the living room enabled and i wanted to enable the other Wall LAN swithci n another room. All these LAN switches are in a basement room where modem is connected to external cable.

I have internet wall jacket for multiple rooms,only one room the internet connection enabled.
the way my working connection is router connected to wall jacket and wall jacked connect to a modem in a basement area. other room jackets cables are also there in the basement area.but i dont have network enabled to those jackets. i am trying to enable internet in those jackets.

OK then. It would seem that all we need is a switch at that location, and a Cat5e cable from the back of the router to that switch.

Models? Where are you buying from?
Netgear, Linksys, TP-Link all make good ones. It also depends on how many ports you need. 5, 8, 16...
