520W Psu for XFX R9 280 (non x )

Hey guys , i have a question , im wondering if a 520w psu would handle a XFX R9 280 with factory oc , that means that i would not overclock it.
If it doesn´t you guys think this PSU would?

More about 520w psu xfx 280
  1. Can you tell us more about the 520 W PSU? What's the brand and model?

I'm inclined to say that a 500+ W PSU of decent quality would not struggle with an R9 280. That XFX unit is certainly fine.
  2. All i know is that is a psu from NOX and its a 520w one man :s
  3. I don't think so... the 12v rail would need to put out the required power, which I doubt it does.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, the only 520 W unit NOX makes is the NXS520. Apparently its built using components by Channel Well which is generally well-regarded. Its capable of 480 W on its +12 V rail. I can't find any reviews, but it sounds like its probably fine. Maybe someone else can chime in with more info.

If you are trying to decide between two, go with the XFX unit. But I suspect the NOX 520 W is okay.
  5. That XFX 550w will easily run a 280 it has 44 amps on the 12v rail.

The R9 280 only needs 30 amps , the XFX 550 watt is plenty of power and made by SEASONIC.
  6. Blackbird , so my nox 520w wouldn´t run properly a XFX r9 280 non x version?
  7. My only problem is the money with that psu of seasonic , btw there is a great promotion where i can pick the XFX r9 280 (non x version) by only 199 euros , when they ussualy cost 250 euros or something so yeah xd
