Hello, while im certainly no pc newbie, i do find overclocking a gpu a little intimidating. I want to OC my GPU to get a bit for speed out of it because it is pretty low- medium end.

Sapphire radeon hd 7770 1 GB GDDR5

intel core i5 3570.

i want to add as much performance as possible while not over heating my gpu or having to buy extra cooling. Thank you so much!

Solution
with such cpu you can gain from overclocking your gpu.you need a solid psu unit and stay belowe 85c at all times, monitoring with gpuz. try msi afterburner or even the ccc. increase both core and memory by small amounts 10-20mhz at a time and run stress test like furmark for stability(for several minutes at least) and something like heaven benchmark (for several loops) and gaming for driver performance. when you experience corrupted graphics or driver failure you will have reached the limits and must lower mhz a bit. (increasing your tower airflow will help you maintain temps as low as possible)

Thank you for the advice. Quick question: i am pretty sure that msi afterburner comes with some benchmarking utility, but i cant find it. Do you know how to open it?

it is furmark. i have already provided the link. also using catalyst control center is also an easy way of overclocking. go to performance - overdrive (also increase power limit along side with mhz)

would a 600 watt psu suffice?

So i have been overclocking my gpu and playing around and my max temp is 62 degrees Celsius. Is that a safe temperature?

yes its perfectly fine! since voltage is locked in your gpu most probably you will reach the mhz limit before you will need to start worrying about the temps (as we said anything below 85c it is acceptible)

good because i translated 60 Celsius into Fahrenheit and it was 100 degrees and it freaked me out.
