Ok so I am still sort of a noob to comp tuning. but was hoping for some advice on fan configuration.

I have a rosewill thor v2 case w/ corsair h100i water cooler (top mounted).

my fans are as follows:

1x front 230mm (intake)
1x bottom 140mm (intake)
1x side 230mm (exaust, might switch)
1x rear 140mm (exaust)

2x 120mm fans on the INSIDE of the h100i (pulling cold air from outside (top of case) through the cooler)

I think it may be possible to put the h100i fans on the outside though, if you look at this pic

There is space between the vents and the top of the actual case (the vents part of the removable top so i assume you could put fans in there..) anybody had any experience doing this? is it possible with this case? should i even try/would it really make a difference? would i need special fans?

Anyways my bigger question is what would be the best config for all these fans? which should push/pull? thanks ppl! love you all.

I would change your side to intake, right now with the radiator being intake your CPU is getting better temps than if you were exhausting, but your increasing the temperature inside your case increasing your GPU temp.

Because your CPU is probably running at a nice chilly temperature it can afford to go up a couple of degrees in order to help bring your GPU temp down which is probably toasty. I recommend making the top an exhaust so that your GPU runs cooler.

The fundamental approach is to get the heat from inside of the box to outside of the box.

You have a good approach with the case fans - the flow in is equal to the flow out - not too bad. However my only question is with the H100i. Since it is moving heat from the CPU - wouldn't you want to push the air out?

If you did - and the airflow of the 2x120s is taking air from the case and blowing out - you could likely move the exhaust 230mm to intake. More cool air in - with solid air movement out - essentially 3 fans plus the PSU as exhaust, and 3 fans intake.

Also, general rule, cold air in from bottom and side, rear and top for exhaust, hot air rises and your h100 cooler fans are pressing warm air into the top of the case creating a hot spot.

I have the HAF X, I have 1x 230mm and 1x 200mm sucking air in, then 2x 200mm in the top exhausting warm air and my h100 is mounted right below them exhausting air as well(into the 2x200mm's). My 140mm rear is also exhaust.

That sounds like a pretty good idea there sir! I'll switch the side 230 to intake and flip the rad fans to exaust. theoretically the side 230 will provide some nice cool air to push through the rad and out the top methinks? thanks for the help! gentlemen and scholars, all of you!
