Will the i5 4460 work with a Z97 Asus motherboard?

I ordered my build, but forgot to check the supported CPU list for the motherboard, like I always do when considering a motherboard. The CPU says it only supports old Z87 mobos, but a BIOS update can fix that. It seems odd that the CPU, which is brand new, doesn't work with Z97s out of the box. Could I be wrong on what I stated? Will it work with Z97s?

Here's the page for the BIOS update:

If you install the Asus AI Suite 3, either from your install disk or download from Asus, you can use the EZ Update feature which should take care of the BIOS update for you.
It will work with Asus Z97 boards. As far as the bios update, the 4460 isn't the only new CPU that requires a bios update to work properly with the Z97 boards - the new Devil's Canyon chips require updates also. I don't know if it's odd or not, it just is.

Is it hard to update the BIOS?

Ok good, I'll check that out. I bought the Asus Z97-A. It, and the whole build except the optical drive and GPU have arrived. I also need to pick up a copy of a Windows OS... I guess 8.1, since that's all that seems to be available.
