This is a screen of HWMonitor with my computer not doing anything other than posting in this forum.

I'm IDLING at 50-60 Celcius, and this is with a Corsair H100i!

Things I've done:

Added Fans so that there are 2 on each side of the H100, making sure that they were pushing and pulling the air through the radiator, respectively

Reseated the pump on the H100 and removed/replaced thermal paste with ArticSilver Ceramanique2 goop

I can't push this chip any higher than the default OC Genie turbo boost from MSI of 4.2 without blue screens galore, and that's with voltages going up and locking fan speeds at 100%

Is it supposed to run that hot with such a mild (20%) OC? Am I freaking out over nothing?

That's what I was thinking, too :/ I'm all out of thermal goop though

With the attempted over clocking I did, trying for 4.4, would that cause it? I stayed super conservative with the Overclock above the 'MSI OC Genie' button, using a single press of the plus button... But nothing is stable now, not even the MSI clock.

I tried running 3dmark with everything auto and no overlock at all and it threw up on me after 18.6seconds...

I'll try redoing my thermal paste again, but I'm going to have to go buy some more. Used my last of it the last time I refreshed it.

After a nice thorough testing using a cheapish copper HSF from best buy (cooler master TX3), various configs of the h100i and my fans, and going through even underclocking my processor, that there is no physical reason for the ridiculously high temps. Cashed in my replacement plan from microcenter, replaced both the motherboard and processor (msi z97 gaming 7 and i5 4690k) and I'm now idling at 26C on the h100i. Yay!!

Well, it's safe to say that your CPU had little to no thermal paste connecting the CPU die with the CPU heatsink. I sometimes wish that Intel had stuck to fluxless soldering.

26c is damn fine, I idle at 28-30c on the older H100. :D
