Display Freeze While Gaming

While gaming my screen randomly freezes, but, the sound continues, it happens in some games but not all of them.
I start the games from an external hd ( its a VERBATIM HD)
Pc specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Installed in a SSD
8 GB Ram
Intel Core i3-3240
Nvidia GeForce GT 640 with 2 gb

Please help, im really tired of this prob.

I've had the same issue before :(  Hopefully you can fix it the same way I did!

Are the games running through a program like Steam, or Origin?

Yes, well the most of them.


Have you installed any programs recently?

On any given Steam game, could you try verifying the game files?

Also, could you try completely uninstalling your graphics drivers, and reinstalling them anew?

This combination resolved the issue for me.
