Hello all. I have this old Dell Dimensions 8300 at my disposal so I installed Windows Server 2008 on to it. The problem is that the OS install didn't have any supported driver so not this machine has no ethernet or PCI/USB drivers on it. Any idea about what I can do? Couldn't find drivers that work anywhere.

Best solution

You're better off with Linux on it. A socket 478 P4 from 2003 running Server 2008? Recipe for fail.

Well, I was planning on just using this machine for my own experimental domain at home, but I understand the concern. Perhaps that would be a better choice.

I ended up buying a TrendNet usb-to-ethernet adapter and using it on this machine. Obviously, this is not an ideal set-up but like I said this is just an experimental network for me to play around with at home and get some hands on experience with.

Did you check Dell Support Site for drivers? Server 2008 should accept either Vista or XP drivers.

Indeed, I was trying this to no avail. But my TrendNet solution is working out for what it's worth.
