So, recently I have been having an issue where my desktop (wired connection to my wireless router) drops internet signal for no reason. The windows network symbol is normal, no ! or red X. I can take the ethernet cable from my desktop and plug it into another computer and it works fine, as well as my wireless works. I have assigned a Static IP to my desktop, and all my drivers are up to date. From what I've briefly researched it seems like this may be a windows issue, but I wonder if anybody else has had this issue and has a solution without having to reinstall windows or something like that.

I'm not exactly sure how to do that. I reset my internet settings, ran virus scans and cccleaner, and nothing popped up. After I reset my internet settings, my browsers work. I dont have any proxys running. I know it's not an internet issue because I can play online games while my browser is broken.

My system is an Asus RT n56u router with a windows 8.1 system. The router has the latest firmware, and windows is updated. I have my WAN settings set to Auto IP so maybe there's a fix in these settings?

I attempted to do that, but it may have been a bit over my head. Anybody else have suggestions? It didnt happen for a few days, until today. I have a solid ping to the websites I'm trying to open, but can't do it in any browser. I'm running out of ideas since this has never been a problem before, which is why I'm thinking it could be a windows update issue.
