Hi guys i recently built my computer and have been having problems with it randomly shutting off. so i went out today and got a cooler master hyper x evo to see if it would fix the problem with the cpu possibly over heating. But after installing my computer will not start at all when i flick my powersupply switch it lights up my usb device. When i press the case power it just lights up the usb device again and thats it :( HOWEVER i do notice where the bracket is in the back it is touching my metal case is that anything to do with it ?

My specs are:
Case: FRactal design define r4
Cpu: intel i5 3570k
Gpu: (was about to order until this problem persist)
Hdd: Wd Blue caviar 1tb
Mobo: Asrock z77 extreme4 1155
Psu: Seasonic 660w Fully modular platnium power supply
RAM: G skill ripjaws X 8gb 2 sticks of 4

Please any help is appreciated.

the best thing is to go to a technician and he will find out the problem for you dont force anything in anger or frustration by yourself if its a corrupt hardware issue you cant solve it yourself...

check if u have installed it properly if u are having problem or confusion installing check on you tube shutting off is a problem of overheating , inadequate or faulty psu, dying motherboard ,faulty ram....and if you are thinking its a short circuit problem then the part where the brackets are touching cover them with ducktape...

When you press the power button and leave if for say 1 minute how long does it take for your computer to shut off when you hold the power button is it instant or does it a take a second or so?

So it's stuck at the POST or what ever it's called, in that case it has to be something to do with the connections or something. and also if you have a dedicated graphics card try connecting your display to your onboard graphics input. Or if you use a HDMI lead try DVI or vga only reason being is if mine is connected via HDMI my computer will not show a thing it will stay black and it instantly shuts off just like yours. But have another look over all your connections from PSU to motherboard, maybe re-seat everything besides that I don't know

Thank you for your input. i do not have a dedicated card at the moment since i was literalley about to order my card when this happened i can maybe try usin gdifferent display. Do you think it has to do with my ram? will a computer start with no ram installed?

I know the feeling, and it's really hard to dish advise over the net because you can't physically look over anything you just visualise. I'd suggest getting yourself in a positive mind frame and go over everything once again. Don't think in the back of your head you've done it all right because that will cause you to over look things, I've often done this myself and with a second opinion they've picked up on my mistake because I keep "skimming" over what I've done assuming it's right. Well all the best double check and make sure everything is 100%.
