You need an aftermarket cooler if you are overclocking. If you are not going to overclock, you do not need it. The stock cooler is fine in that case.

That cooler is good for that cpu. You can get better coolers but you'll have to pay more. And they're not really needed.

To prevent overheating, especially if you are overclocking the cpu, best to get a better motherboard eg Gigabyte GA 970 UD3, Asus M5A97 (no the LE version) or better still ASRock 990fx Extreme 4

No. You won't be overclocking on that motherboard anyway.
