Hi guys,

Basically, nothing particularly has been changed or happened to my PC recently, I did swap out a wireless card though, but I managed to get a power surge detected error, where it prompts me into F1 setup. Everything as expected except the 5v rail reads 10v and the 12v reads 24v?! the 3v rail reads as it should.

I'm absolutely baffled by this, because when I exit out of the setup everything runs fine, I can load windows totally okay so it appears nothing has cooked itself. Basically just wondering if the PSU is going downhill or maybe it's an issue with the motherboard? I'm assuming the PC wouldn't run if these were the case...

It should be noted I've not got a way to test the voltages from the PSU nor do I have a spare PSU i could swap to, to test, short of buying one of course. I'm also definitely not a total know-it-all with regards to this, just enough to get by!

Thanks!

I doubt the system would run with those voltages. Are you using software to read voltages? Get a good voltmeter and check at the 24 pin connector.

Take your readings from the colored wires to ground (black).

Hi,

These are the readings from the bios, which is why it's more troubling. I'll buy a voltmeter soon and try. Just confused why the bios readings show double what they should be

Yes, that is disturbing. My first guess would be that the BIOS is corrupted. Is there are later BIOS version available?
Let me know what the voltmeter reads at the 24 pin connector when the system is in BIOS.
