As Alpha said, we need to know if you want to overclock, also if you need any peripherals or OS.

Without the keyboard and mouse you're within budget, but why not be the envy of everyone with a cool transformers mouse?

If you're not overclocking, I don't know if i'd choose a z97 board, as the only other real advantage over an h97 is the XMP, allowing RAM over 1600Mhz. It is an advantage, but not sure if it's worth the extra money by itself.

For this build I was trying to get a 290x into your budget. Can't OC or XMP but still crossfire capable. If you plan to Crossfire, you'd be better off with the 1000w psu in Alpha's build, if not stick with the 750w. Also had to drop from 250gb to 120gb SSD to get close to your budget.
I went with the H97 Fatal1ty killer to keep M.2/SATA Express, but you could get the Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H and still keep this feature and save ~$18. You'd lose the red/black colour scheme, but that only matters if your going to have a window.

Whats better than 2x 290's in CF? 2x 290X's in CF :kaola:
It really depends on whether he wants to continue to build up his rig and what he's willing to budget to do that. He could even get a 280x now and CF sooner which would have better performance that the single 290x (depending on CF compatibility in games)
Myself, I would probably stick with the 290 and the larger SSD, or if i got the 290x i'd be considering adding a second SSD very soon, but I prefer to run my games from an SSD when possible. But I thought it was worth providing the option as different people have different priorities.

Also probably worth noting here that the case I selected doesn't support dvd drives, because optical is dead :pt1cable:
