HI, so I just got done fighting with a new build and after removing the cpu 4 times i got it to work. When it booted up it was at 55C (so says BIOS, I have no OS yet) and quickly climed to 62C before i shut it off. I assumed it was the thermal paste so I found some I had used on one of my previous builds and had the same temps. So I re-applied again assuming i had useda little too much. I got the same results. Is the heatsink bad? Is this somehow normal? It's and AMD FX-6350.
I don't think it's the thermal paste cause it's working wonderfully in my current rig.

Solution
Once again guys thanks for all the help but it was just the BIOS putting it at 100%. I installed windows and it's now idling between 25-32C. Thanks though guys!!

Well that is above normal but not horrible pc parts are fine as long as you don't puncture the 90c zone but that doesn't mean you don't want cooler right?
What cooler is on your cpu?
What case is it in?
Finally did you hook the fan to the cpu fan hook on the mobo?

AMD CPUs tend to need to be under 65c afaik [72 is max?]
