I have a GeForce GTX 570, I bought it off a friend of mine. I play games on it pretty often and have not run into a problem so far. I tried to play a new game a few days ago and the display just turned black. I can hear the game starting and everything, just no visuals. I can ALT+TAB out of the game, and I can see my desktop again, but as soon as I click back on the game, same thing, no video, just sound. I have had this issue while changing my resolution, too. Change it to a different setting, screen goes black, and it reverts back to the old resolution. Like I said before, I have a GeForce GTX 570 graphics card, my processor is a AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six Core, 4.14GHz. My motherboard is an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX. I have 4 GB of RAM and my OS is 64 bit Vista.

Is your graphics driver up to date?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

are you using GeForce experience?

in my experience, graphics cards locking up has been a driver problem 80% of the time.

I also forgot to ask if anything in the computer is getting really hot. Graphics cards will lock up when they get hot.

I am using GeForce Experience and it tells me that the install fails after I download the update. for 377.88 I believe.

And, no my card is properly cooled and is not over heating.

Have you tried uninstalling GeForce expeirience?

Also, could it be a virus?

Have you tried uninstalling the driver from safe mode? apparently that worked well for a guy on the GeForce forums with your same problem.

Just tried it, it gave me the exact same error message out side of safe mode.

Searched around and found someone who went to Programfiles/NVIDIAcorporation and found a folder Installer2. moved it out of that folder and the installer works now.
