I Recently picked up two Corsair Hydro H50 water cooler and a pair of Kraken G10 brackets to watercool my Sapphire Vapor-X 7950s. I used a 0.6mm copper insert between the waterblock and GPU and used Arctic Silver 5 paste. In Catalyst my idle temp is 35 Celsius. Im pretty sure thats the same or worst than the stock Vapor-X set up. In HWMonitor it shows my max temp as 79c under load.

These temps seem too high, is there anything wrong?

Just checked catalyst again and my temp is 39C and occasionally 40C

I rechecked the cards and the G10 brackets were loose and easy to wiggle around. I tightened the brackets down to a tight solid feel and relocated the top cards radiator to rear exhaust and flipped the bottom radiators fan to exhaust rather than intake. Temperatures still idle 32c.

I thought water cooling would bring it down more than this. The room temperature is 74F

Would I have to reapply thermal paste? Also I have the radiator fans plugged into a fan hub where the main power connector is under volted to 5v. Would this be affecting the performance?

I remounted the waterblock on the GPU and applied new thermal paste. I also tried a run without a copper insert and my idle temp was 45C. After putting the copper insert back I added 120mm fans to my radiators for a push/pull effect and created a shroud made of aluminum tape to direct airflow and this only helped by one degree. The idle was 34C. Running Furmark for less than five minutes brought the GPU temp to 79C. I am now willing to accept the fact that this is as low as my temps will get. It makes me feel like I wasted a lot of money in something that a air cooler can achieve.

If anyone has some advice it would be much appreciated.

I have a single 7950 with the same brackets, but with a Thermaltake pro water 2.0. I feel as if it is the size of the radiators you chose because I get a max of 60c while playing BF4 in a 80F room with a single push fan. I also don't have a shim in between my closed look water cooler and gpu. So get better water coolers meaning thicker ones.
