Me and my friends are all still on the old console... xbox 360 specifically. We're trying to figure out which console to buy since our xbox live subscription just ended. Yes they all ended at the same time we were one of the few who abused xbox live's family plan where we each paid a little over $25/ year to each have individual accounts on separate xboxes. I'm not very familiar with the Playstation since I've never owned one. We figure though we shouldn't jump into renewing the xbox live membership if in a month when madden 15 comes out we all plan to switch to the next gen consoles. We don't really want to buy xbox live for $60 each if we will end up switching to the PS4 in a month if it's better suited for us. So hopefully you kind of understand our predicament any help you can lend is much appreciated! Here's some questions I have...

First off Price is obviosly important. None of us are interested in getting the Xbox one with the kinect so price is moot since I believe they are both priced at $399? If theres any anticipated price drops in either console please let me know I don't know much about either.

Power. From what I've read the PS4 is the more powerful console. That's not the most important thing for me since I was pretty happy with my xbox 360. What are the biggest differences in console performance?

Reliability: How reliable are both consoles? Have there been any major problems like the red ring when the xbox 360 first came out?

Wireless Controllers with charging function built in: Does either console have controllers that are rechargeable? Ideally the console would come with the rechargable station or wires. I'm not a fan of burning through AA batteries like I had to at first for the Xbox 360. Eventually had to get charging stations but of course that was an added expense. I'm pretty much looking for the best bang for your buck system if you haven't noticed.

Online: From what I've heard the PS4 has really upped their online so I will be able to do party chats and private chats with friends like I did on the xbox 360 is that true? What are the discenable differences between the online experiences? How's the online chatting different between both systems? I basically just used the xbox 360 online to play a couple of games COD, Madden, NHL & NBA. Free games, apps or promotions aren't all that important to me I just use the online to play multiplayer games with friends.

Online Headset: Do both systems come with a headset? If they do what's the quality comparison between the two? I liked being able to mute myself or turn the volume down easily with the flick of a switch on the headset cable with the xbox 360. The only problem with the xbox headsets were I found them often breaking and I'd end up having them really taped up until they eventually died. Are PS4 headsets better quality with the same practicality?

Online Price: Like I mentioned earlier me and my friends woulf all use family packs that way our live subscriptions only costed us a little over $25/ year. Now with xbox one we're looking at $60/ year. What's the difference in online price between the two? I'm aware that xbox one lets you have multiple accounts on a single console however I'm really interested in multiple accounts spread across different consoles since I don't live with any of my friends. Does the Ps4 Online have any sort of family plan where maybe the online would be brought down to a cheaper price than $60/year? I've heard something like you can register two consoles with the same Ps4 online account... but would I be able to have a profile while my friend has another different profile on the other console where we both pay half to contribute to however much the ps4 online costs? Essentially two profiles... two consoles... 1 price.

Movies: Another feature I loved on the xbox 360 were the USB ports I used them all the time to watch movie torrents from the internet. Do both new consoles have USB ports and will I be able to play movie files on each system?

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I've rambled on pretty long. Thanks to anyone who even read all this. Any help would be much appreciated! I'm really looking to keep costs as low as possible. I'd also want to have the online subscription price as low as possible. I'm assuming both systems only come with one controller correct? If you are aware of any good bundles or deals on either system please let me know. I don't know very much about either new system any information is much appreciated! Really just want to get more informed and make a smart purchase. Thanks!

Well, as a PC person I would recommend a PC, but that wasn't one of the options. (If you can get a PC) If you choose a console I would recommend the one with the most exclusives you like. For performance difference they shouldn't since they have the same hardware but the PS4 seems to run at higher resolutions then the Xbox sometimes. The PS3 didn't use batteries so I don't think the PS4 would. I'm unsure about the Xbox.
Then again, get a PC.

The thing about your situation is that I would ask my friends (the ones you play with) what games you are more interested in and decide togehter.

As a PC user, I can tell you that My knowledge of consoles is very, very limited, but I am alsmot sure that playing with your friends will beat the cons of your choice by miles.

It all comes down to which games you prefer.
If you want to play third party games later on (like Division, WD, BF4 etc) then grab the PS4, since the 3rd party titles are superior on Sony's machine (compared to X1 ofc), not to mention Sony's 1st party line-up is always phenomenal.
Only get X1 if you are interested in the exclusives, otherwise it's not a good choice.

But it would be wiser to wait a couple months for a bundle (like Destiny PS4 bundle etc).

PS4 is the stronger of the two, Sony makes great games...
I would only take the xbone if I'm a hardcore fan of one of the exclusives or if I hate the ps4 controller (which has better specs than the xbone controller too)
