I want to use my gaming laptop with a larger, 27" monitor. Will connecting things this way cause more lag?

The display lag of the monitor I'm thinking about buying is only 9ms.

I just wanted to know if hooking up the monitor to my laptop (AND TURNING OFF THE LAPTOP MONITOR) would cause even more lag than I have now.

And if it does, would building/buying a whole new PC fix the problem?

I would like minimal lag for gaming purposes.

Does anyone know?

Definitely it'll cause lag...... for displaying each pixel on monitor the GPU has to work on each of those pixel separately..... The more the size of your monitor, the more load will apply on your GPU........ and here you are talking bout a whooping 27" display, it'll be overkill for the laptop GPU......

Are you worried about monitor reaction times or FPS?

But it's another 1920 x 1080, same as my laptop.

Then the FPS will not be affected (I'm sorry for any misspellings in this or my earlier post, I'm from Sweden)

I'm worried about monitor reaction time and also making sure my monitor is the best one for gaming under $300 or so. I've heard about "ghosting". That doesn't sound like much fun.
