RAM reading problem

I have a Toshiba laptop with 6 GB RAM, it hasn't been causing any problems, but recently I noticed that in my computer, it is displaying that I only have 2 GB or Ram (1.86 usable). Anyway, it has been running really slow due to the absence of 4 GB of memory, and I would like to know if there is anyway, update, settings, anything to fix this and restore the 4 GB of memory missing.

Uninstall all the software you know you don't need.

Don't open so many apps and pages at once.

Don't run so much software in the background eg skype, webcam, etc

You laptop most likely has tow ram sticks inside, one 2GB and one 4GB stick. The manual tells you, where they are located. Take the 4GB stick out and re-insert it.
