i installed 2 X 2 gb ram but pc shows installed 6gb in windows7 64 bit

i installed 2 X 2 gb ram in core 2 duo pc with window 7 64 bit but it showed installed 6 gb ram but only usable is 3.99 gb.

  1. An extremely rare, but not completely impossible scenario could be that one of the 2GB sticks was incorrectly marked and is actually a 4GB stick. The only way to know is take out one of the sticks and see which won is the 4GB stick. Another possibility, is that Windows 7 is counting your graphics card memory as part of the total system memory. My understanding is that Windows 7 no longer does this and that that was a legacy Windows XP memory usage measurement issue.

    No window 7 still doing this .. I'm on z97 asrock extreme 6. I use on board video for now.. 16 gig and show 15.7 usable
