Okay, so I installed Kali Linux on my old lappy yesterday, and apparently, unlike Ubuntu, it doesn't come with my wireless drivers in the installation package. I've scoured the internet for answers but none of them seem to fix my problem. I installed Kali on a Dell Inspiron 3520, if that helps. If you need any additional information to provide an answer I would be more than happy to jump on my lappy and find it.

Well, you can Google to find several other suggestions. If you are going to use such a specialized distribution then you really need to know what you are doing and do a bit of work to get it running properly.

No offence intended, but I'm not inclined to give too much help to beginners on a distribution which is often used for nefarious purposes. My take is that those who need this distribution probably know enough about networking in the first place to solve this sort of problem (with a little help from Google).

No offense taken. I'm actually installing this distribution of linux because I'm interested in network security as a possible career choice. I am as of now in 11th grade and would like to learn a lot more about network security. My school does not offer courses in this field, as I'm sure most high schools don't. However, this seems like the logical choice as far as network security is concerned. I am aware that I am somewhat inexperienced in all but the very basics of linux. That being said, I've already stated that I have scoured google and none of those results have helped me. It is at that point that I've made the decision to turn to my peers, because I realize I am beyond helping myself and have decided to learn from others that which I do not know. Thank you for your response.

As you say you are somewhat inexperienced, I would highly recommend that you first learn all about networking on a simpler distribution. The tools on Kali could get the unwary into real trouble.

If you can't get the broadcom-wl driver to work then you are SOL.
Best advice: get a different wifi card. Atheros or Intel chipset. Broadcom linux support is practically non existent.

I have read you can get all the tools and environement stuff set up with some work on ubuntu. Is this true? If so I will be going this route, as I have experience using ubuntu and it also comes with my drivers which is nice.

Yes you can get all the tools that Kali has on Ubuntu.

Ubuntu does not come with the broadcom-wl driver preinstalled though...

Well not per se but it does install third party software with permission during installation which installs broadcom drivers.
