Hey I'm building my first gaming rig. My budget is something under $5000-6000 preferably. I won't be able to purchase anything til September as I'm out of the states right now until then on a deployment. This is what I've come up with so far any input would be much appreciated.

I would think that his suggested CPU, having two extra cores, and capable of OCing, would fare just as well, core-per-core, as the lower-end quad core you've suggested. And the 200w less on the psu could hold him back from future upgrades, I think.

I'm not build guru though, as you can see by hovering over my account. haha, so perhaps my insight is not as good as the price chopper here's.

6 cores is a waste for gaming.

also thats a higher end i7. u cant get any higher end. anything higher than the 4790k is a 6core. and also 1000wattsis more than enought. but i guess i can upgrade his psu.

but yeah 6cores is a waste of money unless u do professional work.
