Hi guys! I finally decided to join this community, whenever I search the net about pc problems there is always one from this forum.

Although I tried search for the problem and solutions but I cannot seem to find the one that is working for me.

Desktop Parts:

  • My motherboard is
    • Gigabyte GA-G41MT-D3
    My processor is
    • Intel Pentium Dual Core(forgot the number)
    • This motherboad supports Dual Channel(2x 1.6mhz DDR3 upto 8gb memory and 1.5v).

    • My PSU is 450watt CoolerMaster. My Graphics card is Gigabyte geforce Gtx 750Ti(new but works).

    • so before the install I was using a single channel generic 300mhz 2gb ddr3 RAM.

New Part:

  • I bought a G.Skill Ripjaws X 1.6mhz 1.5v dual channel kit.(4gb x2 1.6mhz DDR3).

Problem:
When I installed my ripjaws ram and try to turn it on, it turns on and then turns off(repeatedly) and not showing anything in the screen.

Tried solutions:
I have done re-seating the RAM and I hear them clicks to make sure its locked. I have also tried removing the CMOS battery and shorting it out but unfortunately neither did not solve my problems.

At the moment I took out the new RAM and replace with the old one to make it useable again.

please help!.

I have tried them on their own in both slots and the same thing happens, it turns on then turns off then turns on(repeatedly).

i dont think this is a psu problem because its kind of new, bought early this year.

Edit - I also think I did not fry the ripjawsx ram because when I opened it I was already wearing my wrist strap and connected to the frame of the computer.

Wouldn't be PSU I don't think because if you pop your old RAM in it works fine doesn't it? I'll take another look around about your problem.. don't suppose you could test those ripjawz in another system could you?

Sorry unfortunately I only got one system. the other one will be so older than what I have and prolly uses ddr2, even if the old system does use ddr3 i dont think the processor or mobo cant handle the power of those ripjaws...

I went to the store and they tried it and it works fine. My guess is its my motherboard or PSU!. Regarding the motherboard it must be that the processor cant handle the RAM, or i just suck at clearing the cmos that it still remembers that old ram(i dont have a jumper lol im doing it the manual way which is taking out battery and pressing power button or putting screwdriver in the clear cmos header). My PSU is fairly new its 450watt unless it cant take the new graphics card and 2 rams I put in then its probably the problem.

so to anyone getting this problem id suggest that its PSU or old or bad motherboard.
much better solution is directly go to the store and have them test it if it works for them, if it does then it narrows your problem to MOBO and PSU if not then they have to give you a replacement and bfore you bring it back have them test that as well to save time comming back and have it tested again.lol

By the way just a hunch that maybe the reason why its turning on and off is that the configuration of the ram voltage is set to the old one, and since Im not sure if im being successful on clearing the CMOS, is it possible if while using my old RAM and I go my bios and change the voltage set for the newer RAM?
