ASUS RT-N66U Weirdness

My ASUS RT-N66U is dropping packets and doing other very strange things. It won't respond to wired requests for the control panel at 192.168.1.1, but it does respond to pings and the internet is working. It does load the control panel via the wireless side of things.

I've done a factory rescue/restore with the latest firmware and it seemed to run better for a couple of days but now it's back to being weird. ASUS tech support is basically worthless -- I submitted a ticket and they just asked me to do a factory reset/restore, which I had already done.

It's only a year old and I'm beginning suspect hardware problems instead of software problems.... Since the factory rescue didn't fix it, I'm sort of out of options, right?

Solution
You can check your connected devices to see if there are any conflicts, results would also be in the router logs if you have enabled. This is not likely to be the problem if all clients use DHCP.

I have the same router and it has performed well for the 3 months I have owned it.

You have performed the proper steps to restore to operating condition. If a reset/firmware update don't resolve the issue, you could indeed have a faulty router.

BTW, do you have another router that you could swap into service to verify that the Asus is the problem and not your internet service?

I do have another wired router. It seems to preform flawlessly. Even if it was my internet service -- wouldn't the router at least respond to the HTTP request for the control panel?

This is the only DHCP server on my network unless there is some kind of attack happening. I'm not sure how I could try and find/monitor that?

I have swapped cables and ports. I have not tried to connect another wired device (I will try my laptop and see what happens.)
